Things Change

Hey there friends, wow how times have changed. So many new events and happenings all at once and everyone having to readjust their daily activities. While we are on that subject, I decided to go with a new name for my blog because the other title didn’t quite represent the type of stories I wanted to share. I think this title, The Southern Scoop – A Taste of the South best describes things I would like to share with y’all . I will still talk about food, art, music and entertainment of course, but I will add a southern spin on it. A glimpse into small town life and a little background information will be some of my blog’s focus.

My goal for the blog is to share daily stories here with you that will be in journal form, a short story or two , or just a brief comment on something I came across. Some of the stories will make you laugh and some might do the opposite. I know that writing is therapeutic and allows one to express inner thoughts and feelings. I hope that this blog may encourage others to find a new hobby, make a new friend or encourages others to live their best life.

Three things I thought about this morning when I was deciding to change my blog name were, make every moment special, don’t wait for an occasion or event make every moment for enjoyment. Surprise yourself, write a letter to someone using cursive writing or calligraphy , make a phone call, send a inspirational text or tell someone you love and appreciate them. These simple tasks can do wonders in ways you might not imagine possible.

A final thought , if you have a grandparent alive, go ask them about their childhood memories , audio record it , write it down and make it shareable with your children, friends and other family members. There are many people in the community that have passed on that I would love to sit down with and have a conversation. We could discuss special moments about their life, likes and dislikes and any advice they have for today’s generation.

Although things in life do change, sometimes it is fun to just enjoy the present, reflect on life lessons and bask in the moment. Make the most of your life , I saw a great quote that I’ll end with , “Get Up, Dress Up, and Show up but Never Give up !” That best sums up my current go to statement in life. Things change, so take advantage of the present and make every moment count.
