Martini Mama

“Strolling along the parapets of Wyndemere, Ava Jerome can sell a performance with ease, holding her martini glass is an art in itself.” Thom Scott

Elegant, classy, sophisticated, mannerisms draw your eye into the action/drama with very little words. Slow down and pay close attention to these details, notice the slight movement of her hand as she holds the glass . It catches your attention and causes you to wonder what is her next move. A classic soap opera queen moving about, allowing you to love her and also causing you to wonder if she will hurt you, the next heartbeat.

Ava is close enough to Valentin that he could grab her and she is daring him to do so. As she moves along Wyndemere’s ledge, you sense a fear of danger, yet her confidence radiates that she has the upper hand (on her glass). She is the type of character you want to root for, even if she is villainous at times.

This martini glass is a signature of Ava Jerome and I thought I would write a short history of the martini glass according to Wikipedia.

Despite a story that says the martini glass was invented during Prohibition so that in the case of a raid, the large rim allowed the drink to be easily gotten rid of, the martini glass was formally introduced in the 1925 Paris Exhibition. The event reveal was a nod to the Champagne Coupe and wasn’t originally used as it is today. In spite of the design taking influence from the geometric aesthetics, architecture, interiors and furnishing of the era, it was designed for function.

The longer stem reduces the warming effect of body heat upon the contents of the glass, and the widened brim increases surface area, allowing the gin, to release its aroma.

A Martini Mama strolling along Cassadine Island, waiting for the next encounter, whether it be for business or for revenge. This talented actress gives us classic General Hospital vibes of mystery and drama with anticipation of a future event about to unfold. Bravo to Maura West and her wonderful acting ability. This talent keeps us on the EGDE of our parapets.

(Remember to drink responsibly , call Uber or a Taxi, or make a non alcohol type choice to best fit your needs.) Maybe even catch a ferry ride to get you away from Cassadine Island safely. Also, avoid any castle parapets with Valentin Cassadine in the area.

Here is the scene from yesterday’s General Hospital , if you’d like to take a look at this wonderful performance from both actors.

Bravo Ava Jerome & her martini 🍸

Thanks for reading,

  1. Great blog entry. I enjoyed the GH scenes, too. It’s good to see James Patrick Stuart working more. He was wonderful in the role of Will Courtlandt on All My Children back in the early 90s.
